SUNDAY SERMON SERIES: I WILL NOT FEAR

NEW SERMON SERIES, "I WILL NOT FEAR".  Imagine a life free of fear.  One would think that this is impossible and indeed it is, when done in our own strength.  However, when leaning on God, His power and His promises it is possible.  After all, 2nd Timothy 1:7 states "for God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline".  So, although fear of the Lord is a good thing and indeed the beginning of wisdom, the other kind of fear that consumes, overwhelms and gives us anxiety is not of God.  Therefore, it is not impossible for us, His children, to not be living in it or consumed by it.  The Bible is riddled with people in situations that were overwhelming and should have been completely overtaken by fear and yet they did not and held strong to the promises of God.  Also, we see so many enduring, powerful and encouraging promises about who our God is and how we ought to not be consumed by fear.  Indeed, this is a fallen world and there will be troubles, and no one will escape them all.  However, whether in those troubles one will be dominated by debilitating fear or overwhelming faith is totally up to us.  I am so excited about this series and believe God for great things.
