If we are honest and look all around us, we see that others as well as ourselves are often struggling with living in peace. We do everything to try to attain it, but it is indeed elusive. We often try to fabricate it with a vacation or some kind of an escape, but that peace is merely temporary and never lasting. We try to numb ourselves to the craziness of the world to try to attain some peace, but that is not lasting either and often leaves us worst off than when we started. The Bible speaks of a peace that surpasses understanding, as it cannot be found in the world. All through the Bible we see people that were able to attain this peace in the midst of warfare, imprisonment and betrayal. We will spend the next few weeks digging in the scriptures and learning about this peace and by the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit applying in our own lives. God never promised us a heaven on earth, but He promised that He would never leave us or forsake us and that we can indeed have peace through whatever may come. Invite a friend and please be in prayer that God would move through this as we dive in and examine how to have lasting peace in a fallen world.
'The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. '
